Moving to Flickr.com

Pretty soon, the photo galleries that we've hosted at http://pictures.seiler.us and http://vater.us/gallery will be going away. The server itself has an unreliable connection to the internet, and the galleries are using an excessive amount of storage space for a pro bono service.

What does this mean for you? If you want to share your photos online, you'll have to find another photo-hosting service. The Seilers are now hosting theirs on flickr, and you can see our gallery here. You can sign up for a free flickr account (it uses your Yahoo! ID, you may need to create one). The biggest limitation is only showing the most recent 200 photos. We've bought a "pro" account ($25/year), and can upload and share unlimited photos. We definitely think it's worth it. Hosting on flickr means having BIG PIPES to upload/download photos, not the tiny, unreliable connection we were using before.

Don has downloaded your photos (except for some new ones) and can burn you a CD if you need it.

A Very Sneaky Christmas

Early this morning Santa brought Catherine a new dollhouse for her Barbies. Mom and dad were anxious to all wake up and go down together to see her reaction!

Around 6 AM Catherine woke up mom and dad and everyone went downstairs. However Catherine wasn't so surprised, she was just pleased to show us everything. When dad looked, he noticed one of the dolls that Santa had carefully placed on the 3rd floor couch was now in the 1st floor bathtub! Some of Liam's toys were re-arranged as well!

"Catherine," mommy said, "were you already down here?"

"YEP!"

Daddy loves me!

Today I learned that I shouldn't bring toys on the pottie with me. After I was done peeing I tried to wipe myself and dropped a Polly Pocket birdie in the pottie! I ran naked to find daddy and once I told him what happened, he let out a big sigh and stuck his arm in to get it! After a lot of washing, both daddy and the bird were good as new!

My First Haircut!

Today mommy gave me my first haircut! Daddy had to hold me because I kept turning my head and wriggling off of the stool.

Liam Evolves.

Today Liam defeated yet another barrier by pushing the dress-up tub over to the gate in the TV room so that he could climb over it and drop off to freedom. Mommy and daddy both groaned with dread at what may come next.

Catherine "leaps" for joy

Hi everybuddies! My daddy let me use the computer to share a secret with all of you. My birthday is coming up and mommy and daddy are going to get me a LeapFrog LeapPad to help me learn stuff! If anyone was looking for gift ideas, there are a lot of books that you can buy for it. Note that it isn't the "Plus Writing" LeapPad, just the normal LeapPad, but PINK!

Daddy is going to set me up with a wishlist at Amazon.com as well later today so maybe I can make it even easier for you to buy me stuff!

Not getting your family domain email?

Some of you with vater.us forwarders going to hotmail.com accounts may have come to the conclusion that you aren't receiving mail sent to your vater.us address. This is because hotmail.com is pretty lame, but it's easy to fix this problem.

THE CAUSE:
hotmail.com receives a message for you@hotmail.com, but it is addressed to you@vater.us. Hotmail thinks it is junk mail, and so it puts it in the junk mail folder. Look in your Junk E-Mail folder and you should see the missing messages. However, Hotmail deletes mail in Junk E-Mail after 5 days, so you'll only be able to find the most recent 5-days worth.

THE SOLUTION:
Basically you need to tell Hotmail that it is OK to deliver your vater.us email to you. The way I've found to do this is to add your vater.us email address as a mailing list in the Junk E-Mail Protection options. Mailing lists behave the same way, in that they deliver mail to you but are addressed differently.

So from your Hotmail Inbox, click on "Options" in the upper-right, then on "Junk E-Mail Protection", and finally on "Mailing Lists". In the text field on the left, type in your you@vater.us email address (e.g. don@vater.us), and the click on the "Add >>" button. Going forward, mail should be delivered to your inbox.

You'll still have to sift through your Junk E-Mail folder though.

Liam's Discovery

Mom took me to a new place today. I liked playing in the automatic door... in, out, in, out, in, out, in, out, in, out... somehow it always saw me coming. Of course, Mom dragged me away from the fun. Later I'll poop up the back of my outfit. That'll show her. Heh heh heh.
